Scholarship Brunch Event Materials - UNC Health Foundation
Event Design / Illustration
Project
The School of Medicine hosts a brunch for scholarship recipients - and the donors that fund the scholarships - in the spring every year. This is the medical education team’s biggest stewardship event for donors. I designed a save the date and invitation for the event, with corresponding digital versions sent out through Salesforce.
Process
I collaborated closely with the events manager in charge of medical education events at UNC Health Foundation. Because this is the nicest event the School of Medicine puts on, the printed save the date and invitation needed to look and feel elevated. We also wanted to differentiate this event from past events with a unique print format. We used thick, slightly textured paper to make the invitation feel exclusive.
Since the School of Medicine is more closely tied to the University of North Carolina than UNC Health, we were able to lean on University landmarks in the design, knowing it would resonate in particular with our School of Medicine students and donors.
Solution
Our save the date was a postcard style card with “Greetings from Chapel Hill” splashed above illustrated university landmarks. This was a playful way to catch the eye of recipients to make sure they didn’t throw the card away. Our invitation used the same landmark illustrations but toned down. The illustrations were used as an accent on a thick, textured invitation insert, which recipients slid out of a stunning Carolina blue sleeve with silver foil lettering.
